Language conversation groups in Surrey

Many adults know some French, Spanish, Italian or German and want to speak it again. Groups near Surrey are few, and some are full. This page lists the ones we found, with what each page said on 18 October 2026.

The short answer

• Italian: the Guildford Institute group is currently full.
• French: a private Meetup group in Kent. An online u3a group, which may have a waiting list.
• Spanish and German: no group found in Surrey with a page we could check.
• Any language: Nearly Fluent tables and one to one partners. See the Surrey page.

Italian

The Guildford Institute runs an Italian Conversation Group. It meets on Mondays, 10.30am to 12pm, at Ward Street, Guildford, GU1 4LH. Members attend free and non-members pay £1. Its page says the group "is currently full and not able to take any new members". Read the group page for the latest.

French

Tunbridge Wells Francophiles is a private Meetup group in Kent. Its page lists meetings every two weeks, on Monday evenings from 7.30pm. It says members travel from Kent, Sussex and Surrey. It showed 191 members. See the Meetup page.

The u3a runs an online French Intermediate Plus group on Tuesdays, 12.15pm to 1pm. It takes three to six members. You must first subscribe to u3a Interest Groups Online, and the page states no price. It has a "Spaces Available" heading with no number, and it mentions a waiting list. See the u3a group page.

Spanish and German

We found no Spanish or German conversation group in Surrey with a page we could check. If you run one, tell us. Until then, try a Nearly Fluent table or a one to one partner. See Spanish near you and German near you.

Paid classes

Surrey Adult Learning runs language courses, all mapped to the Common European Framework (CEFR). Its levels page lists recommended hours of prior learning. Lower Intermediate Year 1 asks for 200 hours. Intermediate Year 1 asks for 300. We quote no course price, because we did not find one on that page. See the levels page.

Nearly Fluent tables in Surrey

A table is a small group of four to six, hosted by a member. It meets in a public place. Book a place in the app and pay only for your own drink. The Surrey page lists what is on now. Pick your language on the learn pages.
