Language practice for over 50s in Surrey and London
If your days are free, you can practise in the daytime. Cafés and libraries are quiet then. This page lists daytime groups we found. It gives what each page said on 18 October 2026. Check before you go.

u3a

Weekday morning tables
A Nearly Fluent table is a small group of four to six, hosted by a member. It meets in a public place such as a café. You book a place in the app and pay only for your own drink. Our host page says quiet weekday mornings work well. A weekday morning table is a good way to start one. See what is on the Surrey page. Or host a table yourself.
You do not need to be fluent to host. You need a café, a time, and a welcome at the door. Read how to host a language table.
Before your first meeting
Meet in a public place. Pay for your own drink. Tell someone where you are going. Read the safety page. Nearly Fluent is for adults aged 18 and over. It is a place to practise languages. The first table cards give you topics to talk about.
Not sure of your level?
Take the level quiz. It takes two minutes. It suggests a table type, such as beginners welcome.
