Safety
You are meeting someone you found online. Here is what we do, and what you should do.
What we do
- Nearly Fluent is for adults only (18+). Everyone agrees to the community guidelines when they join.
- We show your town, never your address. Your email is never shown to other members.
- Report a member or a table from its page. The Nearly Fluent team reviews every report.
- Block a member and you will no longer see each other or be able to message.
- We warn you if anyone in a chat asks for money.
- You can see how many people a member has met in person.
- Anyone who breaks the guidelines may be suspended.
The photo check
Members can do a free photo check. A blue tick means the member's photo has been checked. It is not an ID check. It does not tell you anything about who someone is beyond that.
What to do
- Meet somewhere public, such as a café or pub, for first conversations.
- Tell a friend where you are going and when.
- Keep chatting in the app until you are comfortable sharing more.
- Never send money. Never share bank details.
- You can leave at any time. You do not owe anyone an explanation.
If something feels wrong
Use Report or Block in the app. For anything urgent, call 999. You can also write to hello@nearlyfluent.com.
